Well, could you go now?

Air Canada Vacations has some nice bargains to the Caribbean. This one in particular is to Curacao. Various dates carry various prices, starting at about $1100 taxes included, per person.

Maui $483.

I'm just going to tell you that this is the kind of thing that causes the bags under my eyes.

It's 3AM as I write this, and for the past 5 consecutive days, I've worked open to close at the restaurant. I'm tired. And yet, I pick up the scent of a travel deal, and I turn into a tireless bloodhood. I won't stop until I find the big deal.

I won't give you the play-by-play on how I found this, except to say that I shouldn't check my e-mail when I'm in bed. You see, Westjet sent an email with an offer of 20% of econo flights, or 25% off plus.

Ho hum. I didn't think too much of it. I looked around at a couple destinations, and it seemed the prices were inflated so as to accommodate the discount. But, since I was awake, I poked around a little further.

Seems Delta has a nice sale on to Hawaii. (From Winnipeg.) $566 return and taxes in, that's a excellent price any time of the year. (I searched and dates are available through February, but not at Christmas break of course.)

So that's when my 'bloodhound sense' kicks into a higher gear. Hey, I wonder if Westjet has matched those prices yet....

I looked, and yes they have. Nice. Westjet has $566 too. Now I wonder if that discount code works on top of this price match deal....

This is the point I get out of bed and head to an actual keyboard. (tap, tap, tap on the keyboard) Yes, indeed, the promo code works! And voila $483, round trip, taxes included to Maui.  $600 to Aruba is pretty sweet too.  Now accommodations are extra in both these situations, but that's not hard to solve.

Victory! I found the prize. $483 to Hawaii is a GREAT DEAL!  Now I can go to sleep.

But first, take my promo code. I won't use it. (Just incase Westjet didn't send you a code this time.)

Promo Code: REW07   Coupon Code: F8Y7IGP  (Yes, you need both)

They key to getting the best price is do a couple flight searches and find your best price combination, THEN go back and do the search WITH the codes.  If you use the codes right off the top, it will NOT show you the various dates and potential savings of date selection.

Goodnight!  :)

Your next bargain Vegas hit

I love Vegas. It's a cheap, quick getaway to somewhere warm and exciting. And one of the very least expensive times of the year to go is between American Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I've been to Vegas so many times that I know what I like and don't like to compromise. What I want is:
  • direct flights with a trusted airline
  • 4 or 5 star hotel on the Strip
  • about $500 (or less) per person
So, matching my criteria, I present to you, Vegas December 8th to 11th.

If you are less choosy about hotel, you can go even lower in price, without compromising your direct, Westjet flights from Winnipeg.

Book online at www.westjet.com or call a local agent at selloffvacations.com (204) 571-4570

5 days, 5 star Mexico $823 or less

If you only have a week's holidays, pushing to cram 7 days of travel into it can leave you exhausted. You go back to work wondering if you even HAD a break?

That's why the '5 day vacay', is a good thing.  If you time it right, you can have a relaxing day at home, unpack, print your photos and THEN go back to work feeling rested and settled.

The '5 day vacay' is also another way to get more travel in, when you have a limited budget.

Each of these examples, available now, from Selloffvacation.com is priced at $832 or less, for a 5 star, all-inclusive vacation.  Hotel, air, taxes included!  The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya is only $713 per person!  It's very well rated on Trip Advisor.

Variety of dates and bargains available. Prices subject to change.

To speak with a local Selloffvacations.com agent, phone Sheri Kines at 204-571-4570 or skines@selloffvacations.com

Bet on World Series Baseball?

A few weeks ago I wrote of an amazing price to Los Angeles, California this fall.

Well, some of those bargain prices are still hanging around.  Currently, $337 includes taxes, return flight from Winnipeg airport. (Screenshot from October 2nd)

This is an amazing week to go if you are a baseball fan. If the LA Dodgers win the National League, their World Series home games would take place October 30-November 1st.  (click to see the whole post season schedule.)

Now, if you're a Blue Jay's fan, wouldn't it be AMAZING to see a Dodgers/Jays World Series?

But you also like hockey too? Well, the Staples Center is just down the road from Dodger's stadium. Perhaps you'd like to take in a Kings' game as well?  They host the Nashville Predators on Saturday Night, Oct 31st.

You can pair the flight with a hotel through Expedia.ca and save a few dollars there, booking together. Or, you might like to use Hotwire and book a hotel in the area using their blind purchase system.

Tickets to the baseball games will be pricy. But wouldn't this once-in-a-lifetime California trip be one to remember?

Perfection in Palm Springs

I can personally recommend this vacation. In fact, I was there at this very hotel just a few months ago.  (See the link for my detailed review.)

These flights have ideal times and I think you'll find this vacation both relaxing and refreshing.

Book with www.westjetvacations.com or call your favourite agent.

This is a hell of a deal, and if I wasn't working that week, I'd be in Palm Springs sipping a margarita by the pool at the Riviera.

Jamaica me crazy with these deals

Air Canada with direct flights from Winnipeg to Montego Bay....

These screen grabs were taken February 26th in the evening. They are from the Aircanadavacations.com website.

As always, I urge you to read the most recent Trip Advisor reviews so you have a well rounded base of information to use in your decision making. Don't let price be your only deciding factor.

Sunny Sample for January

If you've got about $1000 and some time off in January, you have a few destinations to choose from. This sample was take from redtag.ca on December 18th.

There's Cuba, Dominican Republic, Florida and Mexico. Just make sure you check tripadvisor.ca for recent hotel reviews and really consider what you want and expect out of YOUR vacation. Don't book something just because it's a bargain. It has little VALUE if it's not your idea of a wonderful vacation.

Go West with Air Miles from YWG

This week's Westjet discounts are good for Winnipeggers.

A flight for Gold collectors, from Winnipeg to Calgary is down to 1020 Air Miles for a return trip. The taxes will cost you just under $200.

www.airmiles.ca

As a comparison, I also looked at the non-discounted cash fares for the same dates, from YBR (Brandon) and they are $365 which is a very reasonable cash price.

There were no Air Miles flights available from Brandon for those dates. However, when you CAN get the Brandon/Air Miles flights it will cost 1475 Airmiles and about $200 in taxes. There just appear to be limited dates as the Brandon route is selling so well for Westjet already. And that, is a good thing!

All prices and notes are current as of October 7th, 9AM.

Hope someone gets the flight they need at a price they can afford out of this one! I just love it when people get a chance to re-connect with friends and family.

Please do drop me a note and let me know if you've had a chance to take advantage of any of the trips/bargains I've noted. Would be grateful for the feedback.

Have a happy Monday!

YWG to HNL $583

Many dates & length of stays available.
United Airlines has some pretty sweet prices to Honolulu right now. Flying out of Winnipeg, (YWG) and with only one connection (Denver) you can be on a beach same day.

The connections are great and I'd jump at this change of scenery if I needed a beach break right now.

Hotels are reasonably priced and easy to come by this time of year.

If you prefer to rent a condo on the beach and just pay for your flights, I'd encourage you to go through the United.com site itself. Don't forget to sign up for their points/miles/priority club first. There's a lot of miles between YWG and HNL and you don't want to miss out on those! (Each traveller has to register seperately. Even children can sign up and collect miles. - Just ask my CJ. He's going to have platinum status before he can ever buy himself a drink!)

As a package, Expedia.com is offering October 2-8th at $850 tax, hotel & flight. Yes, out of Winnipeg. Yes. This is a very good deal.  This sample price does not include meals. Hotels/resorts in Hawaii are rarely all-inclusive like Mexico.

$583 for a return flight , taxes incl is about $100 less than an average good flight price. $800-900 is a typical fare.  During holidays you can pay upwards of $1200 for the same route.

Hawaii is lovely year round. Another must see destination!

Escape the Deep Freeze

This weekend has been beyond ridiculously cold. Wind chill that takes your breath away, literally. It's the kind of weather you curse your forefathers for. Why, oh why did they settle here? Couldn't they have picked somewhere with a more forgiving climate?

Well, incase you've hit your limit and need to get to somewhere warm right now, I've found a couple deals.  This one is found on Redtag.ca

Cuba or the Dominican, each under $1000. Leave this Thursday or next Tuesday.

Alternately, if you wish to stay stateside, here's a bargain to Florida. I don't know anything about the hotel, however, this package includes a car and a direct flight for $756. That's just over $100 a day for warmth and a break from this cold.  This bargain was found at Airtransat.com by searching for any 4 star vacation, leaving later this week. Look at the variety of prices. Websites that offer this analysis are fantastic!

Cuba - this weekend!!

Aren't you just a little bit tempted to race to the airport and leave this winter wonderland? A blowy snowy blizzard makes me want to see a beach immediately if not sooner.

Take a look at these last minute deals from Redtag.ca

These are reputable chain hotels too! You'll see great Trip Advisor reviews for each of them.

Domestic Flight Sale

Good prices announced today by both Air Canada and Westjet for travel within Canada. Some warm destinations are also on sale too, but I didn't see anything on the list worth splurging on.

Take a look for yourself. Maybe it's time to jet to Vancouver and escape the Winter here for a week or two! A quick check of fares netted $440 with Westjet and $460 with Air Canada. Both prices are for Tuesday flights, returning a week later. All taxes and fees included.

Air Canada Sale

Westjet New Years Sale

**As with all flight and vacation prices, variables exist based on your choice of dates, length of stay, supply/demand. Air fares can vary several times a day. The best bargain is one that suits your vacation plans and your budget.
