Add a dash of "City" to your summer

This week's Airmiles.ca travel specials include flights from Winnipeg, to New York City, Dallas, Tampa, and Myrtle Beach. Fares are discounted by 30% if you are a Gold Air Miles collector.

Flights are Westjet.ca and are offered at a discounted rate from now through August 15th.

Here's just one sample of flights available. It's a sweet deal that for 2065 Airmiles and just over $215 in cash will get you a return flight to an exciting cosmopolitan city.

Hotel bookings are additional.

Springtime in New York

There are a quite a few Air Miles specials this week flying Air Canada out of Winnipeg. The best bargains I see are on the list are for destinations in the USA.  For example, Chicago and New York, discounted are under 2000 Air Miles round trip.

The "high season" ends March 31st and then miles needed drop from 2950 to 2200 per flight. Then, with the 25% discount (for Gold Collectors) on flights still available until April 15th you have a 2 week window to grab a real bargain.

Therefore, flights from Winnipeg to La Guardia in New York are just 1650 Air Miles. Bargain!!!
Here's are two examples of possible flights. You will pay the taxes, plus your hotel in addition, but it's a heck of a start on a discounted trip to New York City.  As a Gold Collector you can also pick up a companion flight at 10% off if you don't have enough Air Miles to cover two tickets.

Brandon to Hawaii on Air Miles Sale!

This sale is only on until Sunday January 5th. Air Miles discount flights change every Monday morning.  Yes, Hawaii applies to Winnipeg (YWG) departures as well.

Go West with Air Miles from YWG

This week's Westjet discounts are good for Winnipeggers.

A flight for Gold collectors, from Winnipeg to Calgary is down to 1020 Air Miles for a return trip. The taxes will cost you just under $200.

As a comparison, I also looked at the non-discounted cash fares for the same dates, from YBR (Brandon) and they are $365 which is a very reasonable cash price.

There were no Air Miles flights available from Brandon for those dates. However, when you CAN get the Brandon/Air Miles flights it will cost 1475 Airmiles and about $200 in taxes. There just appear to be limited dates as the Brandon route is selling so well for Westjet already. And that, is a good thing!

No Bargain

Somethings aren't worth the "bargain" price.  IMHO this would be one of them.

I'll have to say that I don't know anyone who would just hop on a plane to Mexico City. (This isn't a resort package to a 5 star beach!)  And with safety concerns and the negative stories in the media, I can't see that people would consider taking a family trip here.

If you're bald, buying a hairbrush on sale is no bargain.  Ditto, for this one.

We'll all have to wait to next week and see what airmiles.ca is offering then.

One day (July 24) Airmiles deal to PLS

Airmiles.ca is offering 8 days of deals. If you are a gold collector and cash in on their selected day, you could really nab a bargain.

Today's deal is 40% off flights booked to The Turks and Caicos in the caribbean. The Turks and Caicos are amazing islands. I was there in 2012. Some of the most gorgeous beaches on earth.

If you would like to check it out this fall, you can go for 2550 (Gold collector) or just over 3000 points for a regular collector. Normal flights from Winnipeg at this time of year (in points) run 4250.

It's a VERY narrow market for this bargain. But if the Turks are on your Bucket List, like they were mine, this might make it possible.

Did you know that you can collect Airmiles when booking a trip with Expedia.ca?  Now what if you paid for it using your travel bonus/miles credit card? That's like getting a sundae with sprinkles and a cherry on top!
